Winsome and engaging, a tawny salmon hued wine, crafted exclusively from estate grown Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, one of Australia's finest. Good Pinot Noir tends to be outrageously expensive, but De Bortoli are well endowed with some of the finest vineyards in Yarra Valley to make a splendid young wine. Harvests from the estate properties at Dixons Creek, Tarrawarra and Yarra Glen, are assembled with parcels of Upper Yarra fruit. Minimal handling, whole bunch ferments and an itinerary of handling techniques borrowed from the old world, define the style and preserve the pinosity. Windy Peak is plump on the palate, with good varietal character, pleasantly aromatic and extremely food friendly.

Willow Creek has quickly gained a reputation as one of the leading Mornington wineries, producing ultra fine Pinot Noir. From the first multiple trophy winning 1994 edition it was clear that Willow Creek was an exceptional site yielding superlative fruit. Willow Creek's philosophy is uncompromising, that the best wines can only come from the most exacting standards of viticulture. Idyllically planted on good soils with perfect aspects, the vineyard has been continuously refined to achieve ripe harvests of choice Pinot Noir grapes with intense flavours.

Wildwood's vines are planted to the nethermost terroirs of the Sunbury region, where the cool, dry climes under the shadows of Mt. Macedon, serve to concentrate and intensify characters in the grapes. History records that great wines were made in this area from as far back as the early 1800s. Viticulture was re-established in 1983, the Pinot Noir grown here translates into vigorous wines with distinctive varietal expressions. Effulgent acids, complimenting oak and spritely tannins support generous fruit characters, licorice, cherries and plum.

Wantirna Vineyard is a never ending journey of enchantment and surprise. Reg and Maryann Egan honed their practical skills amongst the small estates of Burgundy and Bordeaux. Vines are all dry farmed and the roots dig deep into the clay soils, searching for any available moisture. At times vigor and energy are needed, at times all that's required is patience. Established 1963, it was one of the first new generation Yarra Valley vineyards, the earliest plantings included an unclassified tally of arcane varietals and clones, many remain largely unknown.

A significant early release of a small batch, single vineyard Pinot Noir, grown to the fully fertile soils of a beef and lamb stud under the brisk temperate climes of Gippsland South. Several decades of animal husbandry have set the scene for a fully auspicious terroir, predisposed for minimal yields of an engagingly complex, garrulously pastoral style of Pinot wine. Pinot Noir is sourced from choice sites in Yarra Valley, including the eminent De Bortoli estate vineyards at Dixons Creek and Tarrawarra. Selective hand picking of grapes and the inclusion of whole bunches, warm temperature fermentations and minimal plunging achieve a velvety Pinot wine with inspiring fruit and graceful tannins. Upon completion, components are treated to a gentle pressing before gravity racking into a selection of seasoned and new fine oak casks for several months maturation.

The three home vineyards on Mornington's Ten Minutes By Tractor estate are all ten minutes by tractor apart. It was the Stonier team who put Mornington on the map for world class Pinot Noir. A single parcel Pinot Noir from the KBS Vineyard, offering typicity and profound integrity each year. Named after founder Kenneth Brian Stonier, the KBS property was planted in 1988 on deep rich red loams adjacent to the winery. Pinot Noir from this elite site is nothing short of outstanding, it translates into the finest examples of Mornington, consistently well balanced with ripe fruit flavours yet high natural acidity. The smallest quarter of the choicest fruit is separately bottled as KBS Pinot Noir, the balance forming a key component in Stonier's Reserve.

Rob Sticks Dolan's career in the wine industry began under the tutelage of Greg Clayfield and John Vickery at the enduring Rouge Homme. Dolan established his affinity for Pinot Noir on the international stage when he claimed the prestigious Bouchard-Finlayson Trophy for Champion Pinot Noir at the prestigious London International. Sticks represents an immensely satisfying and approachable Pinot Noir, crafted from fruit grown to some of Yarra Valley's most splendid vineyards, tended by loyal friends and long time associates.

Meet the biggest personality in Pinot Noir to come out of Yarra Valley, Hubert the Stag. With a history dating back to 1862, it's suffice to say St Hubert know from good Yarra Valley Pinot Noir. Vines are planted to some of the most fortuitous aspects in Victoria, closely husbanded to yield limited harvests of the most splendid fruit. The St Huberts team craft the Stag to be unpretentious and approachable yet exuberant and bright, affable and urbane yet packed with character and charm. Everything that fine Yarra Valley Pinot Noir should be and nothing it should not.

Originally established in the nineteenth century, essentially on the basis of its magnificent wine growing potential, St Hubert remains to this day one of the finest viticultural sites in Yarra Valley. Vines are all managed by hand and the fortuitous mesoclimes yield the finest fruit. The property enjoys a long tradition for splendid Pinot Noir, recent show successes include back to back wins as best Pinot Noir at the Yarra Valley wine show.

The fortuitous Pinot Noir vines of Soumah were established along Hexham Road, very near the auspicious Yarra Valley hamlet of Gruyere, just a short drive from the precious plantings of Yarra Yering and Coldstream Hills. A small team of dedicated professionals practise a regimen of holistic, environmentally sound agricultural techniques, for the realization of small yield wines which are evocative of the timeless old world classics. A silky, savoury effort, driven by drying cherry flavours, a twist of sassafras oak and toothy, licorice tannins.

When Dr Peter McMahon planted the first vines at Seville Estate in 1972, it marked the rebirth of Yarra Valley viticulture. Barber are the entry level to Seville's superlative range, hand crafted to classic Burgundian techniques. Four decades of the Yarra Valley's most inspiring Pinot Noir have consolidated the style and ensconced Seville as a leading marque in Yarra Valley. One of Australia's most perennially feted and esteemed Pinot Noir, generously flavoured, brilliantly balanced, stylish and approachable. The Geelong/ Bellarine area has a long history of viticulture, which dates back to colonization by Swiss immigrants in the 1840s. Curiously, Pinot Noir is a wine that performs well in the cooler climes of the lower Swiss Alps. It remained however for Scotchmans Hill to establish Geelong as one of Australia's leading winegrowing regions, due in no small part to the quality and consistency of their splendid Pinot Noir.
